Under the direction of experienced golf tournament organisers the student golfers will have the opportunity to test their skills on new courses against international players and, in some cases, quite different conditions to what they may be used to.
All of this will lead to the understanding of the different skill sets, physical and mental, required to develop their game to compete at a higher level should they wish to.
Teachers & Coaches
We have learnt from the inaugural WSGC that it is a chance for the accompanying teachers/coaches to exchange ideas and also develop inter-school activity.
The 2009 World Schools Golf Challenge will feature:
Educational and cultural activities relating to the geography and culture of Australia and South Australia in particular.
A practise round at one of the host clubs followed by a four - round stroke play tournament with both team and individual gross and nett competitions – staged in four divisions (based on handicaps) for individuals (boys and girls) with champions in each division. There will be trophies presented in all divisions for individuals and teams.
Playing and tournament opportunities for staff, parents and supporters travelling with teams.
Schools can enter as many teams as they wish.
There is no limit to the number of teams that individual schools can enter – e.g. Como Secondary College in Perth, Australia entered 7 teams in the inaugural tournament.
Supporters and families travelling with teams will be welcomed and offered their own golf day, sight-seeing and tour options.
Entry is easy on-line
The team entry fee is AUD $150 which must be paid at the time of entry by every team. Entry on-line is a quick and very convenient way to register your team – Click here .
