The golf matched the weather in a week of soaring temperatures in Hua Hin during the World Schools Golf Challenge in Thailand.
The Banyan Resort proved to be an ideal venue with all the schools except local school, American School of Bangkok, staying there. The opportunity for inter-action away from the golf course was warmly embraced by the participants.

The same concept will be employed in the 2014 World Schools Golf Challenge being held at Millfield School in Somerset, England and many of the schools playing in Hua Hin indicated their intention to particpate in 2014.

The golfing story of note was the astonishing performance of Pannarat Thanapolboonyaran of the American School of Bangkok. Pannarat posted scores of 66, 65, 70 and 70 on her way to winning the girls first division gross and nett prizes.

HISTORY OF THE WSGC

The 2013 Thailand World Schools Golf Challenge follows previous events held in Christchurch, New Zealand 2007, Adelaide, South Australia 2009 and Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2010 and Thailand in 2013.

HUA HIN

Hua Hin is Thailand's oldest beach town resort. Situated on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand and only 200 kilometres from the capital, Bangkok, it offers the ultimate getaway destination for the city's elite. Hua Hin became popular with the Royal Family following the construction of the southern railway in the 1920's, travel became more accessible and a demand for luxury resorts and hotels grew

Today Hua Hin is undergoing rapid expansion. Over the past few years, the town has seen countless housing developments spring up, new golf courses constructed, a brand new shopping complex and movie theatre and a boom in local businesses.

The charm of Hua Hin is that it still retains its fishing village serenity which is now side by side with the bustling centre of a modern luxury beach resort, with fantastic markets, white sandy beaches, designer shopping areas and a wonderful array of eateries available.

Adam Scott Supports World Schools Golf Challenge

We are very pleased to welcome world top ten golfer, Adam Scott and the Adam Scott Foundation as ambassador and chosen charity to The World Schools Golf Challenge.

The World Schools Golf Challenge is an exciting initiative and one that we are pleased to be involved" said Geoff Hall, General Manager of the Adam Scott Foundation. "The event caters for young golfers of all abilities and supports Adam's vision of encouraging people to play and enjoy the game at any age."

The funds raised via the challenge support the programs undertaken by the Adam Scott Foundation including Scholarship Programs and the popular Autism Grants Program designed to assist young people with ASD through iPads and apps to improve interaction, education and communication.

The World Schools Golf Challenge is a once in a life time experience for high school golfers, their coaches, teachers, families and supporters.

Schools are invited to send teams to international locations to experience the sporting, cultural and educational experiences that the selected destination and the tournament have to offer.

Team members must be pupils or immediate past pupils of their school. Age range is 13 to 19 years inclusive at the commencing date of the Tournament.

All players must have official handicaps from recognised golf associations. Handicaps will be checked and the organisers will have the right to amend handicaps where there appear to be discrepancies. A maximum handicap of 21 will apply for the competition.

"We believe the WSGC helps our players grow through sport. The players have been stretched by the competition and enjoyed the diversity of competitors...the reputation of golf at our School has been enhanced amongst competing schools. We see only benefits in our continued participation in this event."
